Telekom ISDN Anlage (german)
My new toy... I am feeling so lucky!
The 3D flash above comes from: brax4your.net. Thanks for that! Grab it with your mouse to rotate it.
2008-08-14 - I must say "Thank You OpenMoko.org" for creating this wonderfull piece of hardware. Thanks to TRIsoft for distributing this "toy" in Germany! I am feeling so lucky! Now i have digital freedom, based on Linux, in my pocket!
Leo Search is Firefox 3.0b3 ready!
2008-03-01 - Sorry to all of you for waiting such along time for the
new version of Leo Search. I was very busy and
got no time for hacking on this extension in the last month. Leo Search
was downloaded around 60.000 times from addons.mozilla.org so I think there
are some people using it out there. Hopefully this new version is helpful to you.
There are no new features! I have only done some code cleanup and small
fixes... ;)

New content!
2008-01-13 - User Mode Linux Howto This howto describes in a very short way how to use "User Mode Linux" with networking. I know there are more detailed howtos around the web but sometimes it is much more helpful to have a short overview on how to get things running.
I'm back!
2007-12-04 - After nearly one year of not doing any open source hacking, I'm back!
Asus
2006-11-13 - Wow, what a nice Hardware...

I got an ASUS WL-500G Premium some weeks ago. I must say: This Hardware ist great. By default there is Linux installed but a better firmware is OpenWRT. I have so much much fun with this small box on my table. It could act as printserver, fileserver, webserver etc.
Bastards
2006-08-01 - I got SPAM with the subject:
lba lilo.conf
Hey spammers, whats your audience? LOL... :) You're a joke! Some years ago, your colleagues were more intelligent. F*** off, you bastards!
Dataflow

2006-07-10 - Some data, flowing nice
looking in my Terminal
Powershell

2006-06-02 - My first start of the
Microsoft PowerShell. Isn't it funny...?
Found this cool banner on my disc today...
My brother created this banner for me before i started my IT business in early 2002. For historical reason i put it here... ;) Nice work, Jakob! Thanks!
Mono: a developers Notebook
2006-02-08 - I got
this great
Book yesterday evening! I didn't take a closer look at
the Mono project before but in the beginning of January 2006 i started
reading much about it and i was impressed - until now.
Two years ago i have written a small application for a customer but i choose JAVA at that time. Since i am using Gnome, running on Linux, as prefered desktop i used some free time last year to dive into the API Gnome provides. In the last weeks i have weritten a small program called Zynk but i have choosen to use C this time. It really was a pain to build a GUI application this way and the only thing that really helped me out was Glade.
Nowadays i would use Mono! It is a development framework which fits to all my needs and it is fun to play with. I will read the Book in the next days and will then start hacking some programs... ;)
Thanks goes to all guys in the #mono channel who helped me starting my first steps! You all are great people and are doing some nice work!
Evil problems when using Mono, Glade and Images
2006-02-08 - I had last night a problem with a .glade file i recently created for an application i originally had written in C. I got really nice help on the #mono channel and if you have the same problem you could read this article. I wrote down most information about the problem there.
Found a nice book about Solaris 10
2005-12-28 - Since i am sometimes are doing
crazy things, i have read the book Solaris 10 - The complete
reference from Dr. Paul A Watters. Since i need to learn how Solaris OS
works cause of my job i have buyed this book but i only wanted a
reference for this OS. This book delivers much more information then a
reference but in a well structered way and it is easy to read.
If you want to learn something about Solaris 10 take a look at this book.
RSS Feed add
2005-12-23 - I have add a RSS feed to this site some minutes ago. Everything from the log site will now be available as RSS feed from http://hanez.org/log.rss. It is a RSS 2.0 feed and you should be able to read it with most readers available. I use Liferea on my desktop so if you don't know which one to use, give it a try.
Weltraum

2005-12-22 - I have seen a very
good movie about rocket technology development on
the german TV channel NDR
(german) this night. The picture above is just a screenschot of Kaffeine when
watching the movie over DVB-T on Linux (german). I will post the link and the
name of the movie here in some days...
German part of this site removed
2005-12-21 - I have removed the "language select links". Since i am not writing much content at all and i do not have time for translating my content to german, i will no longer maintain german content on hanez.org. Some articles will be released in german but they will be linked in the english content. All links to german articles are tagged with "(german)".
New Project: A GNOME GUI for rsync
2005-12-20 -
What is Zynk? Zynk is a
graphical user interface / GUI for rsync
written for GNOME with some special features. This project
is under high development at the moment. No code release
until now!
I have registered a SourceForge project because i want to setup a public CVS repository ASAP. Since i dont want to setup CVS on my own server right now, i think SF.net is a good alternative. I will comit the code when releasing version 0.1.0 of Zynk.
3d-Desktop is crazy stuff...

I recommend to try this software! I had a lot of fun with it and even though
it's crazy, i am using it every day for switching my desktops... Visit the 3d-Desktop website for more
information.

Nice hacking session
2005-06-13 - Thilo Bangert (fizzelpark.com), a very ingenious Linux enthusiast and formerly Gentoo Linux developer, came from Copenhagen to Hamburg this weekend and visited me too. Whhowww, i was lucky to see him, since we have talked a lot about the SVIP protocol and its implementation via Skype in the last weeks. Now we got it defined! And we had a lot of fun too. We are now starting development of some prototypes, of servers and clients, which are able to handle the new protocol.
May the Force be with you...

Nice meeting with udev developer Kay Sievers
2004-11-02 - Because of my interests in Linux and Kernel Development i had written a mail to Kay after i first talked with him on the IT:M in Hamburg. He is doing some really interesting work and since i need some information where to start Linux Kernel hacking he was the perfect person to help me going my way. Thanks a lot, Kay! Please visit Kay's Homepage to find out more.
