Dicke Hose - Big Trouble in Little Ottensen

Gestern Abend war ich im Kinofilm “Dicke Hose”. Guckt euch das an! Es ist ein Film über den Pizzabooten Sleepy (Sleepwalker), der den Aufstieg zum Manager im Hip-Hop Business erlebt. Der Film spielt fast ausschliesslich in Hamburg Ottensen und viele der Darsteller kannst Du fast jeden Tag irgendwo auf der Strasse treffen. Viele arbeiten tatsächlich irgendwo in Ottensen bzw. Altona.

Guckt euch das ding an! Ich war sehr begeistert, auch wenn der Film sehr Low-Budget artig rüberkommt. Was er wohl auch ist… ;)

Besonders cool war, dass der Regissuer persönlich den Film angekündigt hat. Am Ende kamen dann noch einige Darsteller in den Saal um sich mit den Zuschauern zu unterhalten. Darunter unter anderem auch Sleepy… ;) Sehr geil! Vielen Dank für diesen schönen Filmabend…

CCCHH Kickerturnier

Am Samstag, den 5.Juni veranstaltet der Chaos Computer Club Hamburg in seinen neuen Raeumen ein offenes Kickerturnier und Du bist herzlich eingeladen! :-)

So Tischfussball mit bis zu 32 Teams, hoffentlich vielen verschiedenen netten Leuten, bei gutem Wetter draussen Grillen, einigen gesponsorten Preisen und Trostpreisen!

Mercurial SCM

Mercurial is more! It is very easy to use. I used CVS then Subversion, I tried Git and then I was impressed. Now I am much more impressed. Now I know Mercurial… and my life will become easier… ;)

It took about 2 hours to learn how it works and another 30 minutes to set up some repositories on remote servers. Great!

Give it a try!

SOAP sucks!

Does someone had contact with writing SOAP services using PHP, Python etc.? It really sucks. I have tried all kind of SOAP libs in the past few month. PHP’s implementation is very evil… Segfaults etc. WSO2 for PHP seems not to be stable. Segfaults too! What to do? Are there only JAVA or C++ implementations available, which are workling like expected or are compliant with the definition? Python? Ruby, ***? Hmmmm, I only need a lib that handles SOAP, not acts as a server!

I am going crazy because there is no useable SOAP implementation available for open source platforms!

Please give me a hint if I am missing something! What do you use? Which Language (except JAVA)?

File Recovery using Linux

If You have accidentally deleted files or partitions are lost, take a look at TestDisk and PhotoRec. Both tools are great. PhotoRec is great for recovering files by type. You could select *.mp3 and all mp3 files which are recoverable will be found and recovered. Both tools does have support for many many filesystems. And, YES! FAT*, NTFS etc. are supported too. Both tools are available for many operating systems. This includes Linux, Windows, *BSD, UNIX and OS X. Nice work!

If You need a Linux live CD where TestDisk is included I recommend SystemRescueCd. There are many other tools available for doing recovery work for almost every kind of operating system. SystemRescueCd is based on Gentoo what makes it very attractive to me.

Tiny Core Linux

I just want to write a note about Tiny Core Linux. I really like it. It is about 10MB in size and it boots with X and a very minimal Desktop in about 15 - 20 seconds using VirtualBox. I recommend to give it a try. Just download the ISO file and boot it. When booted you are able to install Firefox, gcc, GTK+, Text Editors and much more…

Telemichel

The radio tower of Hamburg, called “Telemichel (german)“. Okay, the right one is a little bit lame but it is a Warholdroid… :) The photos was taken with a HTC G1 and the software is called FxCamera. I don’t know the homepage, so if you wanna use it just just search for it in the Android Market.

A friend, atari, helped me rooting my G1. Thanks a lot! Now I am feeling free! Just look at his Blog post on howto do it by yourself. I installed the Cyanogenmod firmware which looks well done.

Now the phone is it’s money worth!

Currently I am trying to build the firmware from the sources found at GitHub. I will post more information about this…. ;)
