WTH? My Netduino just arrived

NetduinoI got my new toy some minutes ago. A Netduino!

Netduino is an open source electronics platform using the .NET Micro Framework. The idea is taken from the Arduino platform but the difference is, that the Netduino is being programmed in .NET and it has a much more powerful 32-bit microcontroller onboard. It is an AT91SAM7X512 with the following specs:

  • Atmel 32-bit microcontroller
  • Speed: 48MHz, ARM7
  • Code Storage: 128 KB
  • RAM: 60 KB

Hopefully I could develop with the Mono project for it but at first I will do my work in a Microsoft based environment. Sounds contradictory? Yes, it is… but I want to give it a try… ;)

I am a little bit it ill at the moment but it will be a funny weekend when playing with this nice piece of hardware.

Arduino Relays

Yesterday evening I have build a small relays for switching high voltage lines with my Arduino. It uses the “Blink” example and switches on for 10 seconds then switches off for 10 seconds. I have used this document to get my work done.

Arduino TSL230R

The next device is ready… ;) It is the TSL230R light sensor.

Arduino DS1621

Arduino DS1621
Jehhaaaa… It is done!

My first Arduino device is born. Thanks to John! He learned me how to develop the driver for it. It is a DS1621 temperature sensor with 2-Wire (I²C) interface bus. And, YES! I have currently 17.5 degrees in my room.

I am impressed! The code will follow ASAP!

Arduino NXT

Arduino2Lego is a project developed at the Politecnico of Milan by a Computer Science Engineering student. It aims to make all Lego NXT peripherals (motors, sensors,…) easily usable from Arduino.

Since i am not lucky with the original LEGO NXT programmable brick because I need the programming environment provided by LEGO. Sure, there are nice implementations of alternative firmwares around the web but none of them are what I want. Sometimes they are using ugly languages like Java and sometimes the code for the firmware is not public available.

Now I have my solution. Move the LEGO NXT brick to your trash and build one by yourself using Arduino based boards.
